Youth and Chinese Bridge: After 14 Years of Preparation, She Pursues Her dream on the Chinese Bridge

As an international Chinese proficiency competition sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Chinese Bridge has brought together over 1.8 million young people from more than 160 countries since its launch in 2002. Following the passion for cultural communication, Jinyun has created Youth and Chinese Bridge, a short video series, to capture the touching moments of language exchange.

Bai Leila (Leyla Gibbon), a 17-year-old girl from the United States, stood firmly under the spotlight on the stage of the 18th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in September 2025. From encountering Chinese at the age of three, to working as a Chinese-speaking tour guide in Türkiye, and then to rehearsing day and night and having only four or five hours of sleep in preparation for the competition, she has pursued her dream with persistence for the Chinese language and deep affection for Chinese culture, leaving footprints of dedication on the Chinese Bridge.
